Trump

Let me start off by saying this is neither in support of or to detract from Donald Trump, if you support him I’d like to know why, and if you don’t i’d like to know why. I personally don’t like him, for various reasons that will be touched on, but this is more a monolog of thoughts and trying to understand, but I admit there may be some very visible biases.

Okay, let’s get in. Before Trump was president I feel like he didn’t have the best reputations, he had numerous failed business ventures, was an unfaithful husband, and his “empire” was basically given to him by his father. He has become a very successful business man and managed to hold the highest job in the land, but given the flaws I don’t understand how it or why he’s considered a great man. That’s what I want to understand.

During the presidential race, and a little before Obama left office, we saw more of his {Trump} character. Talking behind closed doors about grabbing women by the pussy and how he could do whatever and get away with it because he was Donald Trump. We know he cheated on his first wife with his second wife. Then they split and he married his current wife. Now, I’m not going to pretend I am or ever was an angel, I remember being a kid and teen and I had my raunchy moments. In first grade I grabbed the butt of someone I liked and got whooped by my grandma when I got home. And with other male friends we would talk about who we thought was hot or not, but I don’t remember a time where we talked about assaulting a woman. I was also raised by some strong women that taught me how to treat girls/women, at the same time I was more respectful I was called or assumed to be gay. I don’t understand why women would support a man that doesn’t show proper respect to them. He has been a husband to 3 women, and a father with daughters, and at some point i’d like to believe he loved them {but honestly who knows}. I feel like women and children are treated almost like second class citizens, just barely higher than pets, and that isn’t ok. It should have never been ok, and equal rights shouldn’t be something anyone has to fight for. The choice of homemaker or career professional should have nothing to do with what is or isn’t between your legs, it should simply be a choice. Bringing this back to the main topic, so why would a woman want a leader that doesn’t respect them? Someone that has a well documented history of belittling women or treating them as arm candy is who you want to make decisions that help or hurt your future? Why?

Now let me jump to minorities, by which I mean everyone that is seen as not Caucasian. I can’t say for sure Trump is a racist, definitely a bigot, possibly a racist. Now before I go further let me first state that I am not the most politically correct person, at all. That said I don’t think I am racist or sexist, I am classist but not in the normal way? So basically I feel like those with more money are better off and happier, which inturn makes them better than me because I don’t have that financial security, I can’t afford to take care of my friends and family, so I tend to think less of myself because I am not in that upper echelon of society. Now that I explained that weird fact about me  let’s get back on track, as I was saying I don’t think I am racist and I joke with people close to me and explain it like this: I’m not racist, I hate everyone equally; which I think I got from one of George Carlin’s books, for me that means I don’t care about your “racial”/ethnic background, I care how you treat your own people {family, friends, community} and how you treat me and mine. In all seriousness though I believe people should be equal in some aspects, but even that can be tricky and I may touch on it in a separate post. Trump has called other countries “shit holes”, made off hand remarks about female congress members, saying they should “go back to their own countries”, and he has been praised by white supremacist! Now, in some areas right and wrong are subjective, but if you are endorsed by organizations that have a history of violence against people for looking different or loving differently, that seems like it would set off some alarms or raise a red flag or two. So then again why would any minority support a person that would tell you to go back to your country, instead of saying “There is no place in America, and there should be no place in the universe where this behavior is ok”. If you don’t like that your neighbors are interracial, or gay, or speak a language you don’t understand then maybe something is wrong with you.

I understand why certain people support Trump, that whole “birds of a feather” thing, but the world is such a global community now that these small minded ideals should be washed away by now. No one is perfect, as perfection doesn’t really exist, but I want to be represented by someone that is open minded, educated, respectful, and willing to do right by the people not by their bank account, but that’s my opinion. What kind of leader do you want and why, reach out to me on twitter and let’s discuss.

Be safe, mask up , wash your hands, & Later days
