Let’s hear it for the Ladies!

March is almost done and with that Women’s History Month. Like Black History Month, it’s important to remember, Women’s history is world history and should be honored and remembered all the time, not just in March.

I feel like I have mentioned this before, but I come from a family of very strong women, some have passed on and some have driven a very large stake in the heart of our relationship, but nevertheless, the women who had a hand in raising me were very strong.

I am fortunate enough to still have, and be very close with my mother. We can talk about anything and have gone to each other for advice. Because of her I have a deep love for writing, and though I need to write more, it really is something I love dearly. My Aunt (my mother’s sister) was like my second mom growing up and while this story will probably come up later down the road, when I was a baby she sang Born in the USA to get me to stop crying (and it worked!). And from her own mouth has said she is not a singer, to put it nicely, but she has always been the cool Aunt and my favorite Aunt. My grandmother also raised me for a large part of my life, and while our spiritual views differ, and she has made me mad and I’ve got on her nerves, she has always been there when I needed her.

Outside of blood relation the most influential woman in my life has been my wife. Because of her I have more of a reason to be a better me, we have been through many ups, downs, and all arounds but at the end of the day she is the yin to my yang and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I also have great female friends, and coworkers/ex-coworkers and though I don’t always tell them how important they are to me I appreciate what they have brought to my life. As I have aged I feel like everyone that comes into our lives (bad and good) can teach us something, and I have learned a lot about myself and gained so much wisdom from having them in my life.

So this post is to pay it forward to some of the female content creators that are friends, family, or strangers that may not know or care that I exist but I want to shout out their projects and if you have a moment check their stuff out or support their creative endeavors.
